Done with the roarin' 20s!

Getting big!

How far along?  Goodbye 20s, hello 30s!  Today, this bean has been cooking for 30 weeks, and only has 10 to go.  He weights about 3lbs, and from head to butt is about 10 inches long.  No wonder every movement he makes feels like he's trying to break out of jail!

Total weight gain/loss: I'll find out at the end of the month.

Maternity clothes?  Yes.

Stretch marks?
Nothing new.  I know stretch marks are all genetic, but I feel like my Burts Bee's Mama Butter helps with all the skin stretching.

Symptoms:
Swelling.  Now that it is getting warmer here, I find my shoes and rings feeling a wee-bit tight.

Sleep: This was a pretty good sleeping week.

Best moment this week: Talking to Luke about plans for this little guy.  It feels really good to be on the same page with each other when it comes to when to enroll him in school, circumcision, sports, discipline, etc.

Have you told family and friends:
 Everyone knows.

Miss Anything? This week I really wish I could enjoy a Summer Shandy!  I'm almost tempted to go to the store, pick up lemonade and O'Douls and make my own virgin version.

Movement: Like I wrote earlier, it feels like he's trying to break out of my belly when he flips around.  I've started to feel more kicks in my right lower rib, so I try to sit up as straight as possible to give him more space.

Food cravings: Nada.  Cold fruit and popsicles are about as close to a craving as I have gotten.

Anything making you queasy or sick:  The thought of shrimp makes me a bit queasy feeling.  I still don't really like much meat.

Have you started to show yet: I feel like a whale lately.

30 week picture with the pups and the blooming lilacs!

Baby is a: BOY

Belly Button in or out?
Still in, but I can flatten it if I gently pull up on the skin around my belly button.

Wedding rings on or off?
Mostly on.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy.

Looking forward to: Putting together nursery furniture next weekend.  We ordered the crib today, and we have the dresser ready to assemble.  Once those are all together, I feel like I can actually start decorating and working on his bedroom.

29!

How far along?  This week puts me at a full 29 weeks!  Hard to believe that this is the last week in the 20's!  I mentioned last week that this pregnancy is going by faster than I could have imagined, and it hasn't really dragged on (ask me again when I'm around 37 weeks- I bet by then I will be wishing time would move a lot faster!).  At 29 weeks, Baby Lorenz is the size of an acorn squash, and he is working on gaining fat under his skin, and is starting to open his eyes.  He is also still practice breathing, which results in hiccups!

Total weight gain/loss: I'll find out at the end of the month.

Maternity clothes?  Yes.

Stretch marks?
I have very very faint marks (they are like shiny skin tone, not red at all) around my breasts, which makes sense, since now I seem to be sporting my pornstar boobs all the time...

Symptoms:  My most dreaded pregnancy symptom just occurred at 28 weeks, 6 days- I discovered that I am starting to leak colostrum out of my boobs!  It was such a small amount that I wouldn't have even noticed it, had I not been investigating... Hopefully I won't need any sort of breast pads until after the kid is here though!
I feel a bit like a dairy cow though.

Sleep: Sleep comes easily to me, but it's a whole ordeal whenever I need to flip sides.

Best moment this week: Mary hosted a lovely baby shower tea party for me on Sunday!
Baby Lorenz is definitely already very loved by these women, and I was extremely grateful for all the generous gifts they gave him.

Have you told family and friends:
 Everyone knows.

Miss Anything? My patience.  I'm having a hard time having patience with adults lately.  I am just fine at school when I am working with my students, but I find myself being short with or not tolerating what I deem as stupidity in people who ought to know better...

Movement: He is definitely not shy about letting me know when I am in his way.  As I am typing on my laptop, he has attempted to kick the computer away several times while I write this out.  Kale got kicked in the face this weekend while he was cuddling the bump.  I love that I can see him move from the outside- I feel like I can keep tabs on him through out the day!

If you want to see him moving around, feel free to watch this video I took of him last night.  The movement is pretty obviously different from my breathing pattern.

Don't mind the That 70s Show in the background :)

Food cravings: Nada

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Most meat is not my favorite

Have you started to show yet: I can barely see my toes when I look down!

Looking forward to: My friend, Lindsey's baby shower!  She is due only about 1.5 weeks before me, so it has been fun having such a good friend to share all of these milestones with.  I'm excited to celebrate the upcoming arrival of her little girl or boy :)

Progression

I always think these are fun to look back on. You really don't notice how big you're getting until one day you look down and can't really see your toes, or have trouble shaving in the shower...

I'm excited (and scared) to see how much more he grows over the next 11.5 weeks!

28

How far along?  28 weeks, only 12 left!  I am in my 7th month of pregnancy, and find myself wondering, ¨Where the hell has the time gone?!¨  This week, Baby Lorenz is the size of a large eggplant, or according to PregnantChicken.com, he pretty close to the size of a chihuahua!

Total weight gain/loss: I'm not sure where I am at now, but I suspect that I am gaining about a pound a week, so I'm guessing close to being up 18 lbs?

Maternity clothes?  Yes.

Stretch marks?
Nope

Symptoms: I cant eat as much, and when I do eat too much and bend over, I feel it start to come back up.  Time to start eating while reclined!  My hips and lower back become fatigued more quickly.

Sleep: I'm still loving my snoogle, though now I am getting to the point where no matter how much sleep I get, I wake up several times during the night to flip over or adjust the dogs, so it's not a very restful sleep.  I feel almost as tired as I did during the beginning of the 1st trimester.

Best moment this week: My mom gave me my first Mother's Day gift this year.  I wasn't expecting anything, since I don't really consider myself a mom until this kid is on the outside, but it was definitely nice to be thought of.  Here's my haul of baby clothes:

Newborn Onesies

Sweet little bibs

Smartwool Baby Booties!

The most adorable sleeper.  Ever.

Have you told family and friends:
 Everyone knows.

Miss Anything? My smaller boobs.  These new ones keep getting in the way!

Movement: He starting to kick higher up near my ribs.  If I am sitting in a slouched position, he loves to remind me that I am taking up some of his space by giving me a big kick when I'm in his way.  His movements also make me think that he's attempting to break out.  He's getting so strong in there!

Food cravings: I'm the most boring pregnant lady.  I still don't have any cravings and I'm into my 3rd trimester!

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Plain chicken still sounds gross.

Have you started to show yet: He must be getting more obvious, because after last week, people definitely have more confidence to ask me about my pregnancy, whether or not they know me.

Looking forward to: My first baby shower is this weekend!  Mary is hosting a small get together for me, and I'm really looking forward to it.

27

Happy Cinco de Mayo!  I should have gotten a virgin margarita somewhere this afternoon to celebrate, but it completely slipped my mind.

How far along?  27 weeks!  This kid is the size of a rutabaga and apparently is working on practice breathing.  His lungs are developing as well.

Total weight gain/loss: After my glucose tolerance test, I was up 16 lbs from my very first visit.

Maternity clothes?  If it was appropriate, I would wear stretchy pants for the rest of my life.

Stretch marks?
Nope

Symptoms: This week there has been hip and lower back pain when I don't sit to rest frequently.

Sleep: I bit the bullet and bought a snoogle.  I thought that they were ridiculously overpriced body pillows, but after trying my regular pillow, boppy, and other pillow arrangements, I broke down and purchased it.  So far it's been a good investment.

Best moment this week: Having a stranger comment on my pregnancy. The cashier at Target was the first person to ask me about it, and I was excited to talk with her about it.  She was just so gosh darn cheery!  I also really liked that Lucy decided to use my belly as a pillow last night... too sweet.

Have you told family and friends:
Everyone knows.

Miss Anything? Soaking in the hot tub.  I think it would feel amazing on my sore hips/back.

Movement: I'm starting to figure out his active periods- definitely in the morning when I am just about to get out of bed and the drive into work, right after lunch, and in the evening after dinner.

Food cravings: Still no cravings, but if you get in the way of my cupcake, I might bite off your hand.

Anything making you queasy or sick:  I really don't like the idea of eating chicken.  Blech.

Have you started to show yet: The belly's getting bigger!
